Pyrotecnico Debuts Pyrotechnic Drone Technology at Guinness World Record Largest Daytime Fireworks Display

A new Guinness World Record for the Largest Daytime Fireworks Display was set at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the International Fireworks Championship on February 21, 2026, showcasing Pyrotecnico’s debut of large-scale pyrotechnic drone technology.

The record-setting production, sponsored by Ricasa and Pyrotecnico, deployed more than 1,000 drones equipped with integrated smoke pyrotechnics, filling the sky with synchronized aerial formations designed specifically for daytime visibility.

The event combined traditional fireworks artistry with advanced drone flight engineering, establishing a new benchmark for large-scale daytime live entertainment.

A Record-Breaking Daytime Display

Unlike nighttime fireworks, daytime pyrotechnics must rely on scale, atmospheric effects, choreography, and color saturation to create visual impact without the benefit of darkness.

As part of the Guinness World Record–certified Largest Daytime Fireworks Display (mascletà), Pyrotecnico delivered a synchronized drone sequence engineered specifically for maximum daytime visibility.

The drone show display featured:

• 1,020 pyrotechnic drones
• 2,024 integrated smoke effects
• Fully in-house drone pilots and flight operations
• Custom aerial programming and choreography
• Collaborative product engineering with Ricasa
• Drone platform technology powered by Firefly Drone Systems

Engineering a 600-Foot Aerial Display

The drone sequence opened with a massive American flag formation measuring 600 feet wide and 400 feet tall.

Red, white, and blue atmospheric smoke filled the sky above Las Vegas Motor Speedway, creating one of the largest patriotic drone displays ever produced.

The formation then transitioned into a dramatic bat symbol representing Valencia, Spain, the birthplace of the mascletà* tradition.

By blending centuries-old Valencian pyrotechnic heritage with modern drone choreography, the show connected historic fireworks traditions with cutting-edge aerial technology.

A Fully In-House Drone Operation

A defining feature of the production was Pyrotecnico’s drone light show division, which managed every aspect of the drone operation, including:

• Concept and design
• Flight programming
• Aerial choreography
• Pilot operations
• Safety planning
• Systems integration

The event marked Pyrotecnico’s first fully integrated ‘pyro drone’ production executed entirely in-house. Each drone was equipped with a custom smoke system engineered for daytime visibility, developed in collaboration with Ricasa to integrate seamlessly with Pyrotecnico’s drone fleet.

With more than 1,000 drones operating simultaneously and thousands of synchronized smoke effects, the production demonstrated the scalability and precision of large-format drone fireworks shows.

“This record represents what’s possible when tradition meets technology,” said Rocco Vitale, President of Pyrotecnico.

“Our drone team executed this from design through flight. We’ve worked with the Ricasa team for years and it was an honor to collaborate with them on reaching this achievement. We combined their premier product and vision with our in-house talent and technology to deliver a record-setting performance.”

*What’s a mascletà?

A pyrotechnic event characterized by the achievement of a noisy and rhythmic composition that features, particularly during daytime, in street festivities; it is typical of the Valencian Community in Spain.
